Won't start, won't hold load, surging, or overdue for service. A technician comes to wherever the rig is parked.
Onboard generators mostly fail from sitting, not from use. A generator that has not run in months is far more likely to give trouble than one that runs regularly under load.
Stale gasoline is the leading cause of no-start on gas generators. Ethanol-blended fuel left in a carburettor over an Austin summer varnishes it, and the fix is cleaning or replacing the carb rather than chasing ignition. Running the generator under load for half an hour a month prevents most of this.
Confirm the fuel level. Most motorhomes stop feeding the generator at roughly a quarter tank so you cannot strand yourself — a "dead" generator with the gauge near a quarter is often just that.
Note: propane-fuelled generator work touches the LP system, which is separately licensed in Texas. We do not advertise or arrange propane system work.
| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Service call | A flat fee for coming out to you, charged once per visit — whether the job takes ten minutes or three hours |
| Labor | Hourly after that, usually with a one-hour minimum. Diagnosis is often folded into the first hour rather than billed separately |
| Parts | Separate. Either supplied by the technician or by you — ask which, because it changes who warranties the part |
| Extras | After-hours and weekend call-outs cost more. Mileage may apply past a set radius. A return trip to fit an ordered part may mean a second service call |
